Who we are

The Institute of Applied Entrepreneurship was born out of the need to build a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem in Zimbabwe. An entrepreneurial ecosystem is defined as the social and economic environment affecting local entrepreneurship. It is a set of interdependent factors coordinated in such a way that they enable productive entrepreneurship within a particular territory. An Entrepreneurial ecosystem consists of the following: Business Training; Funding; Mentors and Advisors; Networking; and Accelerators and Incubators. The Institute aims to prepare participants to be responsible, enterprising individuals who become entrepreneurs and contribute to economic development and sustainable communities.

The Institute of Applied Entrepreneurship is also the professional body for innovators, established with a mandate to ensure innovation is seen as a professional discipline that requires knowledge, skills and competency development. The Institute accredits, certifies, benchmarks, and provides research, development, training and mentoring in innovation and digital transformation.

The Institute has Ten Centres, and among them, the Learning Centre, Innovation Ecosystem Centre, Innovation Funding Centre, Resources Centre, Business Incubation Centre and Business Rescue Centre.
